In the last fifty years, knowledge of ancient healing methods has come to
America from the Orient and the Asian Sub-continent in the hands of those displaced by war, oppression, and political upheaval. In the same fifty years, the revolutionary advances in communications technology has given rise to the Age of Information that provides everyone instant, worldwide access to other ways of thinking and being, to other ways of understanding and healing the mind and body.
From this intersection of ancient experience and modern information has come exciting methods for harnessing the power of the human mind and bioenergy field in the quest for total health. These ancient modalities with their modern applications, now referred to as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), and as Mind Body Medicine, have gained the attention of research scientists, health care professionals, and millions of people in search of better health. The best of these methods have proven to be safe, effective, inexpensive, easy to learn, easy to use, and completely compatible with western medical treatment, so much so, they are now included as treatment options in a number of major medical centers in the US and elsewhere. In spite of this growing acceptance, however, the ancient ways of healing are still not readily available to the majority of people, certainly not to those in the warrior professions.
