Restricted Donations are those designated by the donor to be applied in a specified manner or to a specified program, for instance, a Residency Subsidy under the Place & Time Program designated for a specific person or group of people, or money designated for Travel Subsidies under the Information & Opportunity Outreach Program. A Restricted Donation Program may be created for one individual with multiple people donating to that fund for that person or be created for a group of people who share an common identifier, as for instance, OEF/OIF Veterans. At present there are no Restricted Donation Programs.

Unlike donations to our General Fund, each donation to a Restricted Fund must be individually tracked by our Bookkeeper and Auditor from the time it is received until the time it is completely spent. This creates additional administrative costs which mean less of the donation is going to the intended purpose. We therefore ask that donations to a Restricted Fund be at least $50 so their value sufficiently covers the added costs of handling them.

Given the complexity of Restricted Fund accounting regulations, The Foundation asks donors wishing to make Restricted Fund donations to agree that any funds remaining six months after a specific project or purpose has been completed may be transferred to the General Fund with the approval of the Board of Directors.

Any Restricted Donations designated for a new group, program, project, or specific purpose within a program must be pre-approved by the Foundation's Board of Directors.
