My name is Suzanne Parnell. I am a Reiki Master, a long time meditator, teacher of meditation, and practitioner of Qigong (Chi Kung), Tai Chi, Johrei, and other forms of energy healing. Warrior's Way Foundation is a place, an attitude, and an Arkansas non-profit corporation* that has grown out of my work in the last years with Vietnam and Gulf War Veterans and with others who have suffered the stress and traumas associated with what I call "warrior energy" and the "warrior archetype." Many of you whom I list as warriors may not think of yourselves that way, may not even like the association, but I hope as you look at the information presented here you will begin to see the larger patterns of energy that dominate personalities, activity, and commitment in certain professions and not others. These over arching patterns of energy and personality define the few within the "warrior/knight/hero" archetype and shape the events of your lives even as your efforts shape the course of local, national, and world history.

Walking with warrior energy is the most difficult path of all. By definition you open yourselves to wounds of all kinds so that others may be spared and protected. But where do those who stand strong for others go to find help for their stress and pain? Where can the strong turn? Too often the answer is nowhere. Too often the very strength that allows you to meet the challenges of your professions prevents you from finding help in your own coping process, often forcing you to walk in ever deepening silence and isolation. And then there is the problem of resources, peer pressure, the matter of trust, the warrior code of silence and strength, your reluctance, public opinion, and...and...and. You know the drill. You also know the prices you--and your loved ones--pay for the strength, the silence, the "keeping on."

If you love a warrior, you pay prices for that love. It takes a steady heart, fierce loyalty, sturdy independence, and a sense of humor to stand beside a warrior. Everything that happens to your warrior physically, mentally, and emotionally happens to you too, just in different ways and in different--though often no less severe--degrees. Your pain may be less visible, but it is just as real. It is not easy to share a warrior's life. It is worth the effort. And there are effective, empowering ways to help you do it elegantly and happily.

Warrior's Way Foundation is first and foremost about providing you with an opportunity to enjoy Place and Time so you can sort out what you want and need in your lives in order to do more than just cope with the stresses of warrior life. Warrior's Way is specifically designed as the optimum healing environment for those we define as "warriors," i.e., men and women and their families who go in harm's way in the service of others, who stand strong in times of peril and crisis for the rest of us, thereby taking on the mental, emotional, and physical wounds such service entails. Here you can take a much needed break in a safe and peaceful environment. Here you can, if you choose, find information about forms of alternative and complimentary medicine specifically formatted to address the stresses of warrior life. Or you can simply time out and enjoy. The choice is yours.

If you want to know more about the self-healing methods we make available, StoneWind Institute for Mind Body Medicine, just a short walk away, offers training in Reiki, meditation, Qigong, Tai chi, and other forms of energy healing and is always open to those coming through Warrior's Way. You will find that Reiki, meditation, qigong and other forms of energy healing provide unique answers to your unique needs and the needs of loved ones. These methods allow you to take charge of your own process. They provide another level of self-empowerment so you can guide the direction and pace of your own care privately and in your own timeframes, yet these methods do not interfere in any way with conventional medical treatment where that is in place. Putting these new tools of self-healing in your toolbox creates a win-win situation for everyone.
